ISABIT

Interventional Systems for Advanced Bio-Imaging and Therapy

Isabit is a transdisciplinary consortium for the development of new image based diagnostics with improved sensitivity and specificity and secondly to develop new targeting therapies.

The research programs aim for enhanced treatment regimens and preventive measures for diseases like cancer, diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis and degenerative diseases of aging.

ISABIT promotes design, production and testing of interventional systems that binds to specific tissue types, e.g. cancer cells, stroke tissue or couples to specific biochemical processes. The interventional systems will furthermore carry therapeutics directed towards specific pathologies and exert their effect locally.

Macromolecules, nano-tubes, liposomes, virus and single cell bio-probes are used as carriers in the interventional systems of ISABIT. The fast expanding therapeutic potential of cell-therapy is a key point in the research profile.

Development of personalized therapeutic profiles is an important objective in ISABIT.

The present programs relay on the latest achievements within imaging (MR, PET, ultra sound, etc), nano-and gene technology, immunology, molecular biology, oncology and biomedical engineering.
